I love very much knowledgeroot: in my office we use it daily and it is simple and rock-solid. But….. what is it ?
Simple: it is knowledgebase system where the contents are managed in a tree-like structure.

The stable version (vers. 1.0.3 – 05/01/2012) is a little old, but the developer is working on a new revision…. Hopefully there will be a new update soon !

Installation is very simple: installing the pre-requisites & extract the tarball.

apt-get install mysql-server php5 php5-mysql apache2

Download tarball of the stable version (knowledgeroot-1.0.3.tar.gz) in /var/www and extract the files inside.

tar -xzf knowledgeroot-1.0.3.tar.gz

Now you have to open the web brower and follow the instructions.
http://<server ip address>/knowledgeroot/install.php
